Skins Research Centre
Where the paper is proven.
R&D in the UK. Manufacturing in Spain. Years inside the trade and a specification we verify batch by batch. Nothing carries the fingerprint until it has been burned, weighed, sealed and rolled here.
The protocol
Six tests.
Every batch.
The order matters. A leaf that fails the burn never reaches the roll, and a leaf that fails the roll never carries the fingerprint.
- Test 01BurnA conditioned leaf is ignited in still air. The burn front is timed edge to edge and inspected for runs.Slow, even, no runs
- Test 02AshResidue from the full burn is weighed and assessed for colour and structure.Minimal, pale, no clumping
- Test 03GumThe strip is activated at minimal moisture and peel-tested after ten seconds.Holds first time
- Test 04TranslucencyTransmitted light is read across the sheet to detect thick or thin zones.Uniform across the sheet
- Test 05FlavourBlind panel against the category reference papers. No flavour transfer
- Test 06RollHand-rolled twice by people who roll every day.No splits, no drag
Years inside the trade
We knew the paper before we had the name.
Skins is built by people who spent years inside the rolling paper industry, close to the mills, the converters and the counters, before putting their own name on a case.
That time is the asset. We know which stock the best papers are made from because we have handled it for years. We know what fails at the counter because we have stood behind one. Skins is that experience, written as a specification and tested until it holds.

The world’s best manufacturers
Made in Spain.
Held to our spec.
We do not own a paper mill and we do not pretend to. Skins is manufactured in Spain, in the region that produces the finest ultra-thin papers in the world, with the mills and converters behind the most respected names in the category, to a specification that is ours alone.
The paper is theirs to make. The standard is ours to hold.
Skins technology
Gum profile
Our own strip width and coat weight for natural gum. Seals on minimal moisture and burns to a fine caramel line.
Basis weight
Two weights held to tight tolerance. The lightweight leaf is 14 gsm rice paper; medium weight adds body for structure and speed.
Cross-weave watermark
A fine pattern pressed into the leaf at the mill. It regulates airflow, slows the burn front and keeps it even.
Booklet build
Fifty-five leaves, interleaved and folded so the next leaf is always presented. Soft-touch board case, teal edge print, fingerprint on the face.
